Market Group 1 Pay Grade 5 Pay Range: $52,879 to $82,845
Anticipated Hiring Range: $60,000 - $70,000
This position reports directly to the Director of Finance.
An Accountant III/Fixed Assets Manager is an upper-level accounting professional responsible for processing and reviewing various routine and non-routine day-to-day accounting functions in support of the company’s overall financial objectives. This individual, under the limited supervision of the Director/Deputy Director of Finance, takes a lead role in processing, maintaining, preparing and presenting accurate and timely financial transactions. The successful candidate is expected to help lead and coordinate activities in support of the Finance Department. This position is not only responsible for handling core accounting functions, but is heavily engaged in reviewing, analyzing and resolving.
Education, Experience, and requirements
Active CPA License in the State of North Carolina; AND
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university that included a major field of study in accounting or a closely related field such as business administration, finance, etc. that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting and at least 4 years of relevant hands-on work experience in accounting.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel (As part of the recruiting process, all applicants will take an Excel Proficiency Test);
Must be a U.S. citizen and hold a valid driver's license;
Complete a lengthy security screening process and at all times possess and maintain eligibility for the appropriate US Government Security Approval; AND
Pre-Employment drug screening and pre-employment physical.
Preferred Education and Experience
Fixed assets management, including inventorying, barcoding, capitalization and reporting
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Access)
Experience with Sage 100 and Sage FAS
Sales and Use Taxes
Federal & State Tax Requirements, including Payroll & Property Tax
Knowledge of GAAP
Process, maintain and carry out fixed asset accounting;
Analyze and evaluate the accuracy of the general ledger and processes corrections;
Assist outside auditors by preparing schedules, explanations of supporting materials and procedures and preparing other necessary data;
Review and resolve discrepancies with bank and credit card account reconciliations;
Review and resolve discrepancies with balance sheet account reconciliations;
Revise and troubleshoot accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions and issues;
Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts;
Prepare and reviews financial reports, schedules, charts and supporting documentation;
Prepare and review journal entries;
Calculate, prepare and review accrual entries;
Calculate, prepare and review prepaid allocation entries;
Calculate, prepare and review reserve transactions;
Lead and coordinate the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes;
Recommend, handle and document changes in accounting processes and policies;
Design, enhance and fix complex financial spreadsheets;
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional associations; AND
Perform other ad hoc duties assigned by management.
