The Division Controller manages the financial activities of the division with a staff two. The position reports to the Company CFO with a dotted line to the division president.
Oversight of day to day activities of the finance/accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, credit, analytics and compliance;
Responsible for knowing and administering company policies.
Hiring, training and management of accounting department personnel;
Month end closing process including reconciling accounts, making accruals, etc;
Monthly reporting to headquarters including financial statements and management reports;
Reports for division management on a weekly, monthly, annual basis or ad hoc basis
Preparing tax information packages for headquarters to prepare quarterly tax payments and annual tax return;
Ensuring the staff is processing accounts payable invoices accurately and timely.
Signing checks and making wire transfers
In conjunction with Corporate Credit Manager, establish and monitor customer credit limits;
Supervising staff to ensure timely cash application and follow up on delinquent customer accounts
Analyze, enhance or establish, as appropriate, procedures to ensure the protection of the Company’s assets through strong internal accounting controls;
Assisting in the preparation of Division’s annual budget;
Cash flow budgeting and forecasting to maintain the division’s loan balance under the established limit.
Manage local taxes including monthly sale/use tax returns and annual property tax;
Responsible for overseeing semiannual physical inventories at the plant and all outside locations;
Responsible to oversee document storage and retrieval system;
Ensure all accounting procedures and processes adhere to US GAAP and statutory compliance requirements are followed on a consistent basis;
Coordinate and participate in annual audit;
Working with headquarters staff on business level control testing
Responsible for coordinating and supplying information for periodic internal audits
6-10 years experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, inventory and credit control.
3 years of supervisory/managerial experience
Requires attention detail
Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks and strong supervisory skills
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills
Must have strong Excel skills
Must be proactive and work well as part of a team
Public accounting preferred
CPA or CMA a plus
Steel industry experience a plus
