Objective: Local Home building company is looking for a Corporate Accountant / Controller. This position is a hands on position responsible for all aspects of Accounting, Accounts Payable and Purchasing for Keystone Homes. This includes monthly account reconciliations; AP processing and organizing; purchase order processing and organizing; preparation of monthly property management financials statements and accounting oversight; and assisting in creating and implementing monthly and annual budgeting processes for KGI; Control and reduce all costs for the company; support our Community Construction Managers and Community Sales Managers.Responsibilities:•Learn and fully understand AP position to operate as back up for AP staff when necessary.•Assist Director of Operations in month end reconciliations of various credit cards; bank statements; and account reconciliations.•Process month end journal entries and closing entries and assist Director of Operations in preparation of month-end financial reports. Reports include Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, Job Costs Analysis.•Work with Director of Operations in developing new management reports; i.e. management scorecard, job costs budget to actual analysis, etc.•Prepare and maintain appropriate subsidiary schedules for various financial statements.•Assist the Director of Operations in developing systems and procedures to monitor and analyze the progress of homes under construction, finished homes and available lots and reports to support the financial reports.•Maintain internal accounting controls to ensure professional and secure handling of Keystone Group, Inc.’s finances.•Assist Director of Operations in compiling information for preparing the annual tax return.•Work with Director of Operations to establish financial metric based on historical data and current data to forecast.•Assist Director of Operations in establishing HR policies and procedures•Work with Director of Operations on Keystone Group, Inc.’s employee benefit package and payroll processing and other HR functions as necessary.•Work with Director of Operations to establish performance metrics for each department•Assist Director of Operations and Purchasing Department with monthly analysis of variances.•Understand the process of creating purchase orders within IHMS•Generate job specific cost budgets prior to start of construction.•Establish standard operating procedures for accounts payable, purchasing, monitor the effectiveness of procedures, revise and improve processes and procedures as necessary.•Work with Director of Operations to utilize IHMS software and improve reporting functions.•Continually look into innovative products, techniques, and changes and trends in the home building industry.•Provide consistent and strong support to Keystone Homes Community Construction Managers, Community Sales Managers and Production Team.•Attend regular office or department meetings.•Communicate and project the Keystone Homes “We Care” attitude to all customers, Trade Partners, suppliers and employees.•Understand the principles of customer service and recognize that “good” service often requires a “shocking level of response”.•Special projects as assigned by President or Director of Opertions.
•Bachelor Degree in Accounting and 4-7 years experience as a controller required.•People skills to articulately and professionally handle communication with customers, employees and vendors and treat everyone with respect and consideration.•Accounting and Finance ability to maintain accurate records, depreciation schedules, and to ensure tax returns and financial statements are accurate.•Organizational aptitude to manage a multi-person and time demanding department.•Experience with tax returns, insurance procurement and audit procedures.•Ability to hold confidential information that is proprietary to the management of Keystone Group, Inc.•Residential construction knowledge.•Computer aptitude and willingness to learn to process needed data and to communicate via reports, spreadsheets, emails, and letters. Excel, Word and accounting software knowledge and experience a must. Experience with IHMS software a plus.•Willingness to learn new and varied tasks.•Ability to analyze data and formulate budgets for up-coming year.•Ability to analyze job cost variance data and take corrective action.•Willingness to handle accounts payable issues with vendors when necessary.
